An article written by Evan Campbell, Healthhaus sponsored athlete 2024-2025
My name is Evan and I was a sponsored member at Healthaus and Ayush wellness spa last year.
I compete in the decathlon which is an event in athletics comprising of 10 disciplines completed across two days. They are the 100 metres, Long Jump, Shot Put, High Jump and 400 metres, followed by 110 metre hurdles, Discus, Pole Vault, Javelin and finally 1500 metres. As you can imagine, training for all this can be very hard on the mind and body, so the pool, sauna, and cold plunge quickly became a staple of my routine.

To contextualise, I finished university in 2023 and somewhat dissatisfied with my progress, decided to fully commit to training whilst I was in the privileged position to do so. I worked part-time to get by and under my mum’s advice, who was already a member, I reached out to Healthaus and was kindly invited to use their facilities free of charge.
I trained harder than ever, and made huge physical gains in 2024, but got some badly timed injuries, and didn’t quite reap the rewards I’d hoped for. I finished 7th at the national championships, battling achilles, hamstring and adductor strains across the weekend.
In 2025, however, I had a big breakthrough. I won two national medals, three Island gamed titles, and have put myself in serious contention for a spot at the commonwealth games. I went from 16th to 6th on the UK rankings, 400th to 200th in the world and broke island records in the decathlon, indoor heptathlon, pole vault and 4x100m. This coincided with a move to Manchester to train at a top facility and work with team GB physiotherapists who helped iron out my injuries. I feel very grateful to be in the position I am now, still doing what I love, with realistic goals of succeeding at the highest level.

My time at Healthaus was certainly a catalyst for this breakthrough because, physical benefits aside, it was a place I could relax and reflect. I could turn up, leave my phone in the locker, and be alone with my thoughts for a couple of hours, a few times a week. This helped me come to some important realisations about managing my body and not feeling like I had to constantly suffer to Improve. I built a much healthier relationship with my training and life in general, which in turn massively benefitted my performances. I am of course very grateful to Nathalie and the Healthaus team for the opportunity.
Looking ahead, I have an exciting season pending, with more national championships and hopefully the commonwealth games this summer. I will be travelling to the U.S for a training camp and aiming to challenge some of the best athletes in the world.
Thank you for reading and good luck in 2026
Evan
